Based on a Firefox Hack, Google Map Saver (GMS) offers you an easy way to download huge Google Maps on your PC as JPEG, PNG-8, PNG-24 or BMP files. GMS is light (only ~334 KBytes) and very easy run since doesn’t have an installer. Just download it and run it. Details here.
